Abstract: Weathering of buildings is inevitable even without h:iman interference. When conserving buildings and statuary, consolidates may be applied to stone to improve the mechanical properties of deteriorating building material. They act by 'gluing' the deteriorated surface stone to the underlying healthy stone. Lime based consolidates are commonly employed in Malta, but silica-based consolidants are now available on the market. This study focuses on the application of alkoxysilane based consolidants for treatoent of 'Franka' type Globigerina Limestone.
