Abstract: A bio-assay for in vitro screening of compounds with potential anthelemetic activity is proposed using the free living nematode Caenorhabditis elegans (Rhabditida) as a model. The acqueous, methanolic, acetone, ethyl acetate, chloroform, and petroleum ether extracts of Ruta chalepensis leaves (Rutaceae), Punica granatum (Punicaceae) fruit pericarp and the seeds of two local Cucurbita maxima (Cucucbitaceae) cultivars were screened for antheleminitic activity using the proposed bio-assay.
