Abstract: Radio is a very powerful medium of mass communication. In several countries, the Church has her own radio station, and is making use of it as part of her mission of evangelisation. This dissertation studies how radio can be used at the service of the Church. Chapter 1 is a literature review about the topic in discussion. Chapter 2 focuses on how radio may be utilised for evangelisation in the light of four documents published by the Church, and in the light of other official pronouncements of the Church. Chapter 3, based on the findings of the previous two chapters, draws out different models of Christian radio stations that can be used for evangelisation. These models are substantiated by analysing different schedules of Christian radio stations, highlighting each of the different models. Finally, the chapter ends with an analysis of the model adopted by the Maltese Church-owned radio station.
