Abstract: When we speak about the Pauline idea of Jesus' resurrection, we do not intend to mean a philosophical argument or an idealistic postulate, nor are we discussing a possible result of religious speculation, but we are basing ourselves on the Pauline words and phrases concerning Jesus' resurrection. This is already given to us as a basic theological presupposition before theological reflection begins. Our theological concern with the Pauline statements about Jesus' resurrection is an expression of our being committed to the actual content of the early Christian kerygma, which does not only include the word of the resurrection as one truth among others, but finds its essential focus in the assertion, "Christ is risen".
