Abstract: The aim of this research was to design and develop a brushless drive to be combined with a Stirling engine. In doing so, it would be possible to obtain a cost effective solution to exploit heat energy from the sun and convert it to a rotational energy using a Stirling engine. In turn, this rotational energy is converted to useful electrical power, using the specifically designed brushless drive. The objectives of this research were to develop a low cogging alternator to transfer the energy to the grid.
