Abstract: The strawberry is a popular small fruit in Malta. Demand for strawberries has increased in the past years and is still growing. A market for locally produced strawberries for fresh consumption surely exists. This soft, juicy, nutritious, low calorific, bright red, slightly acidic, delicious fruit is sought for all year round by both the inhabitants and the ever increasing tourists that visit the island. In response to the above, strawberry cultivation and thus production has been increasing year after year.
