| Abstract: | This dissertation is an analysis of the political discourse of the Maltese green party, Alternattiva Demokratika, as embodied within the 'quality of life' leitmotif. The study traces the development of the party and its politicians in terms of the Maltese political structure and the Maltese electoral system, and how this affects the way political tactics and political rhetoric have been organised. The investigation involves an understanding of what the political discourse of 'quality of life' shows about the people who are articulating it, and how this discursive construction is related to the dynamics of a small Maltese third party within the context of Maltese politics and the Maltese electoral system. |
