| Abstract: | The main aim of this dissertation is to propose a set of regulations and guidelines regarding the use of second class water systems and water efficient fixtures and A-Rated water consuming appliances in new buildings. It was important to acquire feedback from all stakeholders involved so as to assess the impacts on the social aspect as well as the feasibility of the proposed regulations and guidelines. Thus a total of five different surveys were conducted so as to gauge the current status qua, the awareness of the current scenario and the willingness at adopting the proposed regulations. The economic and environmental aspects related to the use of water efficient fixtures and A-Rated water consuming appliances were quantified and analysed by appropriate calculation methods. From these calculations it was possible to conclude that the implementation of the proposed regulations and guidelines would in fact be feasible and beneficial for all aspects involved. |
