Abstract: Each community has different customs, traditions and folklore. These elements are the result of the evolution of every community, and as a result they provide identity, which helps to unite and build the community. The social and spatial organisations of cities shape the everyday life of their inhabitants. The objective of this dissertation is to analyse if folklore, customs, and traditions have an effect on urban morphology. The case studies carried that demonstrate that there exists a relationship between these two elements. This relationship is further confirmed when considering the folklore, customs and traditions of Zejtun, and the way that its urban morphology was formed.
