Abstract: Globigerina limestone is an essential local natural resource. Its economic value has been realized since Roman times and it is the most important building material used. Over the past years however, the need for a comprehensive study on the local resources of limestone has clearly been realized. Quarrying activity is inevitably in conflict with other potential land uses, and land is permanently effected. However minerals can only be worked where they occur and land must be made readily available for the supply of construction materials. It is therefore imperative to ensure maximum utilization or reserves.
