Abstract: The New Spatial Revolution is a comprehensive research of how digital technologies are changing the way we inhabit our buildings and consequently the emergence of an 'interactive architecture.' New media appear to relegate architecture to a role of a meagre container for sophisticated gadgetry. The only point of contact with the technological world seemed to be the application of computers to streamline existing practices. Over the last decade, a new generation of 'natural born CAAD designers' has been trying to move away from the collective impression that the profession was becoming a helpless victim, raising broad cultural concerns. In a situation that is still ongoing, there are many ideas; situations are still fluid and at times confused. This dissertation does not intend to clarify completely this mass of ideas and experiments. On the other hand, it proceeds to present a selection of architects and thinkers who have set up their research in a new territory. After analysing these works and the theories inspiring them, this dissertation will delve into the possibilities of reinventing our places, unleashed by multi-mediated interactive design.
