| Abstract: | The dissertation analyses the affordability of private education in Malta. It identifies trends in private education fees and other related costs in the past seven years and examines them in terms of household expenditure. It also evaluates the role of the State support to parents and private schools. The affordability benchmark that is applied in this study is 25% of a household income. Analysis is developed in terms of field work interviews with private educational institutions. The results show that households with median income or less do not afford private schooling for their children. Therefore the government is responsible for the provision of their education. |
