Abstract: | The formation of free trade areas, customs unions, common markets and full economic unions among groups of countries is widely supported. There is hardly a region in the world in which such arrangements are not already in existence or being actively planned Advocates of economic integration often point to the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics as examples of modern industrialized states which have benefitted from integrated economies . The European Common Market is cited as an example of efforts to achieve economic integration between separate nations. The development of these various forms of economic integration between different states suggest that, regardless of the economic system, economic integration does offer concrete benefits. |
