Abstract: In the framework of the EU ANDROID Network (“Academic Network for Disaster Resilience to Optimise Educational Development”, 2011-2014), Venice and its territory have been selected as an emblematic case study of a region that could be affected by cross-border disastrous events (Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, etc.). The study addressed hazard, vulnerability, resilience, and mitigation aspects, providing a general overview of the state of the art, looking into open questions and future research needs, following a holistic approach to risk assessment.
