| Abstract: | The introductory sections of the previous chapters stimulated me to reflect on certain salient events in my career from which I learned a lot and which moulded my vision of science and education. For me the two areas are intertwined. It is important to adopt a scientific approach to education and to be involved in some scientific activity to be an effective science educator. Then, in the specific field of educational assessment, it is also important not to forget the scientific and the educational dimensions of assessment in all its forms. Of course, educators with a different background to the one I have and who have experienced different educational contexts to the ones I experienced may recommend other equally valid approaches. In the following sections, I shall present a short recollection and reflections on some formative events that were significant in my professional development. |
