Abstract: This study offers a fresh perspective on the phenomenon of unwillingly Christian single adults and their place in life, in society, in the Church. For centuries unmarried single adults have been demeaned. For centuries single persons have lived in the shadows, in no man’s land without recognition. In recent times, the attitude and behaviour towards single life are improving. Their voice is being heard and acknowledged. It is up to the single persons themselves to avail themselves of opportunities that will continue to enhance their lives as fully integrated persons living a purposeful life. Going back to the creation of humanity and highlighting the foundational truths of the human being and who the human being is, more so from a Christian outlook, one re-interprets singlehood. The unmarried adult needs to discover their identity anew, and one aid to do this is spiritual companionship.
