Abstract: This dissertation aims to analyse the poems found in Sylvia Plath's Collected Poems in terms of the celestial imagery they contain. The sky, the stars, the sun and the moon images were extracted from the poems and studied. The following work attempts to recognise the similarities within the portrayal of these images and construct a form of poetics based on the language the poems use. These images have not been given enough importance within criticism of Plath's work and therefore a study was needed to expound the unique nature of the celestial imagery within these poems.
