Abstract: MRI assessment of the foetus has been around for 25 years although in routine practice only for the last few years. The tackling of the main challenge of foetal movement was paramount and with this aside the use of the technique has grown exponentially. Arguments related to safety and availability are often used against its routine implementation. However, for a number of specific indications, foetal MRI has been shown to be far better than ultrasound (U/S) and to make a difference in patient management. The role of the modality should be as a problem solver in foetal assessment.
