Abstract: Malta had confirmed to completely move and apply the Birds Directive by the date of accession. This refers that bird hunting in Malta can just take place within the limits given for by the directive. Article 9 of this directive supports, where there is no other suitable solution, for exception under particular situation. If Malta needed to permit hunting in spring on particular species, it would need to make sure that all the demands of Article 9 were fulfilled. Hunting could just be performed under "strictly managed situation" and restricted to only small numbers. Therefore, this research focuses to understand issues to successful implementation of Birds directives implemented by the EU, appropriate for the Malta.
