The participation of separated persons in the pastoral life of the maltese church

Abstract

This qualitative study aims to explore the achievement of persons faced with marital separation. The dissertation will first discuss the difficult experience of separated persons, who often feel confused, hurt and rejected, and their particular needs when faced with separation. It will then study their experience within the Church, both on a diocesan level and on a parish level, and what they expect from the ecclesial community. Special attention will be given to support groups that have been formed, with the aim of giving renewed confidence and self esteem to separated persons. To conclude it will then focus on their participation in the pastoral life of the Church, and what they can offer to the community at large.
