Citation: Caruana, J. (2003). Women : work and gender equality in the EU : a Maltese perspective (Bachelor's dissertation).
Abstract: This dissertation utilises a multi-method approach to find out what changes the European Union has instigated where women's rights with regards to work are concerned. A historical analysis of institutional and legislative changes will take place to find out what recommendations the European Union has made on this issue and how different member states implemented them. This is because this dissertation is going to trace the instances where the recommendations and policies introduced by the EU structures have acted as forces of change where women's rights in employment were concerned. Interviews, analysis of documents and legislation will be used to attempt to trace the impact of EU directives on EU member states and Malta.
