Adverts play an important part in both monitoring people's perception and also at influencing people's choice of goods. The property market in Malta is no exception. The aim of this dissertation is to examine the effect that adverts have on the geography of the property market. and to test the hypothesis stating that "Advertisements influence the clients' geographical choices of the property market in Malta 11• This will be done through various questionnaires and interviews to the property consultants and to the advertising people in the Real Estate Agencies, who will attempt to answer questions that are linked to the geography of this market, such as: Which are the most advertised localities and areas? The core areas or the peripheral ones? Are the newly built-up settlements more popular than the older settlements? Are the village core buildings and the houses of character increasing in their popularity? What is that the people look for, old town houses, houses of character, or new apartments? Further analysis will then be performed on the settlements as such to see if there is a correlation with the locality, type of property, size and condition of the dwelling and the property prices by using the Bid-Rent theory and various other settlement models. A questionnaire to the clients will also be distributed to see their preferences in localities, the reasons why they are buying or selling a property and how and why they chose that particular Real Estate Agency. All the questionnaire data will be analysed and explained with the help of the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software (SPSS).en_GB
