Abstract: The scope of this essay is to invite readers to explore the narrative and dramatic dimensions of John's Passio Christi. John's depiction of the Passio Christi continues to fascinate people even today. This work focuses on one aspect of John's literary work, his use of narrative art techniques in chapters 18 and 19. The essay is divided into three chapters. Chapter one examines the structural formation of the scenes that make up the plot and John's use of the various components of narrative art, dialogue and drama, to write his story. Chapter two looks more closely at the way John builds the characters that feature in this unit. Chapter three compares John's narrative strategies with the Synoptic Gospels; it sees how John introduces certain characters and incidents and omits others as he narrates his story.
