Abstract: The problem of migrant workers is not a phenomenon of today. In this research study I tried to find out particular reasons why in the 21st. century the world is still undergoing a great movement of people who decide to flee their native country for a better future abroad. The impact of globalization and migration go together. The problem lies in the fact that in many countries around the world there are so many civil wars going on, governments are corrupt and it is sad to say that people are getting poorer every day. Migrants escape from their country of origin to go and seek jobs somewhere else. What is actually happening to the human rights of these migrants is of great concern. Women form part of the world when; migration is involved because they leave their children behind them and go to work in a foreign country where many times they are abused and exploited especially through prostitution. Malta too, is a country which attracts the eye of such migrants, especially those who escape from African countries. Although Malta is very small, abuses are reported as well. From such reports that I have referred to in my research it seems that the situation needs to be tackled and an action plan needs to be considered. Throughout this research, it is important also to note the role of the Catholic Church which is spread worldwide, when it comes to dealing with these migrants. The church's starting point and beliefs are always based upon the teachings of Jesus Christ our father and saviour. The church works so hard to try to help them together with other institutions. To love thy neighbour as thyself and when a stranger comes to live with you, you have to welcome him or her in your country are the main principles that all citizens must keep in mind. Through this study it seems that the results are a bit far from being achieved but what is important is that humans are aware of such awkward situations concerning these migrants and with the help of responsible institutions, we can lessen their sufferings.
