| Abstract: | This dissertation's objective is to analyse the ‘Tremendismo’ in two of the immediate post-war novels, i.e. ‘La familia de Pascual Duarte’, by Camilo José Cela and Nada, by Carmen Laforet. This bibliographical research, it to determine the characteristics that differentiate, or perhaps link, such works, thus, highlighting the influence of the Spanish Civil War and the influence of the censorship, on the society and post-war Spanish literature. Therefore, after an in depth study of the two novels in question, we studied the life and the works of the author, the plot, the structure and the peculiarities of each novel. Meanwhile, we were analysing the elements of ‘tremendismo’, in each novel. This allowed us to find that the characteristics of ‘Tremendismo’ present in ‘La familia de Pascual Duarte’, correspond to the violent and physical ‘tremendismo’, whereas in Nada they apply to a psychological intimate pain. |
