Abstract: The title of this professional report was chosen to examine an area that a lot of notaries have to deal with on a day to day basis, being the registration of immovable property. As stated above, the notaries have to register the property after the transfer at the Public Registry and sometimes at the Land Registry. This professional report is going to focus solely on the Land Registry. This professional report aims to find a better and easier way for notaries to be able to register the property transferred on the deed at the Land Registry. The objective of this professional report is to examine the system at the Land Registry itself, but also to reflect on what the notary can do within his office to register the properties in a more timely manner. After the research is conducted, the professional report will be concluded with a list of proposals for the way forward. his professional report provides an analysis of how the process of registering property at the Land Registry can be improved. It will first start with a study of the Land Registration Act, with an overview of the departments at the Land Registry, explaining the current system in place for property registrations. It will then move onto the suggestions brought forward by previous sources, where the Central Registry Bill, the suggestions brought in different parliamentary sittings and those brought in theses will be discussed. Next, the suggestions brought forward via informal interviews with Land Registry officers will be examined and discussed briefly. In the next chapter, the professional report will move onto efforts that can be done by the notaries within their office to help with the process of registering property at the Land Registry. Throughout this professional report, references to various thesis, dissertations and articles will be done to supplement the text. This professional report will be concluded with proposals to improve the land registration system by making it easier for the notaries to register the properties that fall within a compulsory land registration area. This will be done by bringing together all the findings brought about in the main chapters, which will be supplemented with additional proposals. These selected methods included different sources which provided different information and viewpoints which at the end answered the key question. This would satisfy the title, aims and objectives of the professional report, with the hope of being fruitful within the Maltese Land Registration system as the proposals would be implemented.
