dc.description.abstractThe last decade or so has witnessed the introduction of inclusive education in Maltese schools. Over this period there has been a gradual but consistent increase 4 in the number of children with special needs who have been mainstreamed as part of the inclusive programme. Nevertheless, in spite of the political, educational and financial commitment that this has demanded and entailed, there have been no large scale attempts to take stock of these efforts; to evaluate what is really going on in our inclusive education initiative; to ensure that these children with special needs are ‘included’ and not merely tolerated and that these children are indeed receiving the education which they so deserveen_GB
