| Abstract: | At a time when the geo-political situation seems to be forcing the East and West further apart, koinonia rises to the foreground of theology as an element not only about which to discern but moreover to live out more concretely. With this premise in mind, the author analyses the similarities between Pope St. John Paul II's Post-Synodal Exhortation Christifideles laici and the Russian polymath Pavel Florenskij's ideas on communion. The basis for any theology of communion is necessarily Christ, the Head of the Mystical Body of the Church, who is experienced in everyday life by means of significant spiritual friendships. |
