| Abstract: | The main objective of this thesis is to determine whether 'El Buscón' (Francisco de Quevedo), is, in reality, a picaresque novel like its two predecessors, Lazarillo de Tormes (anonymous) and Guzmán de Alfarache (Mateo Alemán). In order to do this, the main characteristics of this genre will be listed out, after which the three books listed above will be analyzed; then in the last chapter they will be compared all together. By carrying out this process, it was concluded that 'El Buscón', although having some different points from the other books, is in fact a wholly picareque novel, and is to be treated as such. |
