Abstract: This project aims to highlight the various security flaws associated with Wireless 802.11 networks through research and in-house testing in order to create awareness amongst the Maltese public. A Wi-Fi Security Map of Malta was drawn up covering 70% of Malta's built-up areas showing the various security implementations currently employed on the island. Results suggest that around 40% of private networks are very vulnerable with the possibility of the figure increasing to 89.5% as more sophisticated attacks are developed and released. These figures alone should hopefully help trigger off an informational campaign by the respective authorities.
