| Abstract: | The industry of Air Transportation Systems is currently at a cross roads, having to handle deregulation to gain advantages of a market driven system, which has brought inability of the current system infrastructure. Recent work in technology, through communication, navigation and surveillance has shown new concepts that will accommodate future air growth and preserve the demand-driven air transportation system. In the following project a platform for, "Trajectory-Based Air Traffic Control (TB ATC)" is to be developed. The goal of such project is to achieve maximum airspace usage through innovative ideas such as Artificial Intelligence, Semantic Web Technologies, Surveillance Systems etc, whilst minimizing human to human interaction. The core idea revolves around autonomously predicting a three dimensional path trajectory for multiple aircraft running over the same airspace, having an efficient surveillance tool to manage airspace more efficiently, through on-line weather and airport information provided by web services. Global collaboration will also be handled by providing on-line knowledge to third parties. The system is to work on a distributed infrastructure to provide global accessibility. |
