Abstract: | Humans can be assisted in solving problems by observing and imitating the way nature adapts, to solve its own problems. Through these observations we will be more able to understand the ecologies and the creatures forming them. This will also place us in a better position to preserve the ecologies. One of the problems that are encountered when observing natural ecologies is that they have to be studied in their habitat, which may be dangerous for the ecologist. Another problem that is encountered when observing a natural ecology is that the scientists are restricted from doing tests that will possibly harm the ecology. These tests would be very useful as they will show us what particular things have a catastrophic effect on the ecology. An ecology simulator could be used to simulate an environment, and the ecologies that live within it. This will overcome most of the difficulties that are now encountered when observing natural ecosystems. As simulations are much faster than real life, an ecology simulator enables us to learn how an ecosystem will evolve. As simulations require a lot of calculations, the increasing computational power is making them more feasible. This will allow us to achieve results from simulations that were not possible before due to the lack of computing power. |
