| Abstract: | This report is the result of my two week visit at Woodbridge School Suffolk UK between the 10th and 21st November 2003. Woodbridge School is a co-educational Independent School catering for the needs of about 900 pupils aged 5-18. The School is essentially a moving school, keeping a healthy blend of change whilst recognising its foundations and traditions. Thus, the School is an integral part of the local community and hence builds networks between parents and the wider community and recognises both as potential partners and contributors. The School aims to provide equal opportunities for each pupil whatever their gender and age to challenge his/her academic, physical, cultural, spiritual abilities and talents. Research was purely qualitative based on a listening philosophy and outlined that school effectiveness needs a specific orientation towards student deep learning. Much will depend upon the performance of school leaders, staff, parents, students working together and the communication of a vision. Starting with recruitment and selection of proper staff, their development and the provision of a structure sets the pace for the improvement journey towards a common purpose, philosophy. |
