| Abstract: | My report focuses on the practice of the Head of School and her whole staff team. My main findings are as follows: • The Head and her management style have tremendous influence on the climate, ethos and culture of the School. • The professional development of staff is of great importance, second only to the education of the pupils attending the School. • Planning and evaluation of teaching and learning is a vital component to a successful school. • Teamwork and collegiality lead to a cohesive, efficient and effective teaching and learning establishment. • Effective School Development Planning is the responsibility of the whole staff team and should be a collaborative effort. • Assessment, both formative and summative are essential elements to ensure satisfactory development in pupils' learning. • Parental involvement, when organised well, is of great benefit to all members of the school family. Working in partnership with parents is the way forward. Schools in Malta are moving in the right direction, but still have some way to go and work to do in order to reach the level of achievement of St. Patrick's Primary School, which I feel is an exemplary teaching and learning establishment. I personally have certainly learned a great deal from my visit and will hopefully be able to put some of this learning into practice in the future. |
