Abstract: As part of the course work of the Diploma in Education (Administration and Management) I visited Saint Ignatius Loyola School in New York. The purpose of my visit was to observe and reflect upon the administrative practice at this school. During my stay I shadowed the principal and was given the opportunity to engage in lengthy discussions with her about the running of the school. I participated in the full life of the school by spending time in classrooms to observe practice and attending meetings. I attended faculty meetings, workshops as well as meetings of the principal with other members of the staff, parents and even students. Although Saint Ignatius Loyola School enjoys a greater degree of autonomy than our schools in Malta, there are still things which can be applied to the local situation. There are many lessons to be learnt from this experience that served not only for this report but also for my future career.
