Abstract: Teachers reading for the Diploma in Education (Administration and Management) were given the opportunity to participate in a fortnight's attachment programme in a Foreign School. During the period 3rd November to 14th November 1997 I was attached to All Hallows Roman Catholic School in Farnham, Surrey, England to observe and reflect upon Educational Management and Administrative practice in British Schools. I was very enthusiastic to have this opportunity of observing closely the British State Administration and Management in Education. I am sure that my active participation in this projected programme would prove a most profitable and enriching experience : This personal experience has helped me to have a wider perspective of School Administration and Management. Indeed, it has helped me to analyse and evaluate to what extent it can be applicable to the situation in Malta. During my fortnight at All Hallows, I also had the opportunity of visiting some of the feeder Primary Schools. I went to St Bernadette's Roman Catholic Primary School and St. Patrick's Catholic Primary School in Farnborough, Hants. It was a great experience to see the approach to creative work and creative thinking in both these Primary Schools. I also had the opportunity to attend an excellent Drama presentation at Farnborough Hill Girls' School (Private School) entitled 'The Caucasian Chalk Circle' - A Parable by Bertolt Brecht. This drama presentation was part of their GCSE Drama and English literature assessment. Together with my host, Fr. Anthony Sultana, a Salesian priest, I also had the opportunity of visiting 'Farnborough Boys' Salesian College' and discuss, in an informal way, how the British State Education System works with special reference to the Surrey area. Definitely, this has been an unforgettable and fruitful experience.
