A visit to St. Mary's RC Primary School Dundee, Scotland

Abstract

During our visit to St. Mary’s RC Primary School from 5th to 15th March 2007, we had the opportunity to involve ourselves in the full life of the school. This enabled us to observe and reflect upon the administration procedures, styles of management, the different aspects of school life including the school-based curriculum and the role of the teachers. This visit proved to be beneficial. During our stay we had the opportunity to have lengthy discussions with the Head of School, the Senior Management Team and other members of staff. There are many lessons to be learns from this enriching experience. The results of these two weeks’ observations have been recorded in the light of educational theories. The report outlines the different aspects of the administration of the school and its relevance to the local situation.
