| Abstract: | It was Monday November 3rd, when I first set foot at St. Mary's R.C. School, Bannockburn. I was taken there by Fr. Simon who, having dropped me at the front doorstep with the briefest of introductions, did very little to calm me down. I tried very hard to recover my composure since my actual predominant feelings at the time were, to put it mildly, apprehension and that of feeling a queer fish; more so when it dawned on me that the teaching staff were all women. I could only pray that my English would not let me down in this moment of truth. All to her credit, it took Ms. Campbell just over five minutes to melt the ice and put me at ease in the most agreeably Scottish way. Now that I was made to feel at ease, I promptly realised that I was about to leap into a most fascinating and rewarding experience, both on the professional and human levels. Looking back, I realise how right I was! Since I am writing about St. Mary's R.C., I will start with a general view of how this Catholic School is run. [...] |
