Abstract: The aim of this project was to design, manufacture and test the suitability of heat pipers in a solar collector module. An extensive research on the characteristics of heat pipes had to be carried out so as to select those materials which are most suitable for the operating temperature range of a collector inclined at 45 degrees to the horizontal. Also a study on solar energy and the radiation climate in Malta was required.
