Abstract: The Federation (EFGP) evolved from a loose network called the Co-ordination of Green Parties that was initiated in the early 1980s with six member parties. In 1993, the EFGP was created in Helsinki with 23 founding members, and today it is a formally registered organisation with its seat in Vienna and its administrative office in Brussels. Its purpose is to strengthen the Green political movement across the continent. Its task is to facilitate communication between its members, to support small parties and to coordinate policy-making throughout Europe.
