Abstract: The peak employer organisations in Malta are the Malta Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises (GRTU), the Malta Employers Association (MEA), and the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise and Industry (MCCEI). While the membership levels of the GRTU and the MEA increased between 2003 and 2008, the number of lower level employer organisations and their overall number of members declined over the same period. A number of employers might have preferred to join the larger and stronger peak employer organisations, rather than remaining in smaller sectoral organisations.
