Abstract: In February 1986, a proposal was put to us - a group of teachers, Heads of Department, Assistant Heads and Heads of Schools, who are following a Two Year Diploma Course in Administration and Management in Education- whether we were interested in visiting a school in the United Kingdom in order to see how the Education system works in a particular school. In this report I have tried to give a clear and brief account of my observations during a 2-week visit to the Lewis Girls' Comprehensive School, YStrad Mynach Hengoed in Wales. A full detailed background description of the School is given. The managerial academic set-up is described in the second part of my report and conclusions regarding practical application to the Maltese system follows from a comparison between the Education system in Wales and Maltese Schools.
