The administrative and managerial roles in the Legal Department of the Bank of Valletta Ltd., as applied to the Education Department

Abstract

Assimilation of managerial and administrative roles in the Legal Department vis-à-vis educational set-ups: A two-year Diploma course in Educational Administration and Management together with a four week observation period at the Legal Department of the Bank of Valletta Limited have initiated me to become more involved in and aware of Managerial and Administrative roles. During this observation period I have tried to find out whether roles taught in theory are the same as those found in practice or not. I have also tried to establish such roles to practical ones towards the Education system. An Introduction: Many people think that management and administrative issues are the responsibility of directors, administrators, supervisors and heads of schools. This is generally true. All employees, whether being managers/administrators or not, often are called upon to use managerial and administrative skills. One can develop and practice some of these skills towards better communication, problem solving, group process, conflict resolution and negotiation. The Senior General Manager of the Bank of Valletta is continuously using such roles, especially problem solving.
