| Abstract: | During the period between the 19th March and 30th March 2007, I was attached to Catholic Regional College, Sydenham, a co-educational, post-secondary, Catholic school in Melbourne, Australia. The purpose of my visit was to observe and reflect upon the organization and administrative practices in the school. My principal aim was to analyse the school's management structure, identify strategies and reflect on their relevance to the local situation. This research was carried out by interviewing a number of individuals in the school, among them, the Principal, the Deputy Principals, the subject coordinators, cluster coordinators and tutors, school organizer, ancillary staff and a number of teachers and students. I tried my best to keep up with all the activities taking place each day. I also read all the school's own literature. I visited all the laboratories, workshops, computer rooms and the educational resource centre at the school. I carried out observations and visited a number of classrooms. I also attended a number of meetings, both during and after school hours, including a staff meeting and a parent- teacher interview. All the information I managed to collect, along with my analysis and reflections have been recorded in this report. My stay in Australia was worth it. It was an experience of a life time, that has help me greatly in my work as a teacher. |
