Abstract: Only selected pupils take part in the traditional Sports Day for Primary Schools. In fact, only 5 boys and 5 girls from each year group participate. The rest are basically excluded. Moreover, pupils from year 1 and Year 2 do not participate at all. When it comes to the duration of the physical activity, the pupils take part for only a very short time. Each selected pupil only takes part in one event which literally lasts for a few seconds. Can this be a truly physical experience for our school pupils? A Field Day is different. All pupils take part in a Field Day. There are no eliminations and everyone can participate and experience a measure of success. Moreover, all the pupils take part in all the games. The pupils are involved all throughout the event, moving from one game to another. They do not perform their one and only game and end up as spectators after a few seconds of activity. In this project, an attempt is made to explain in a simple way how one can organize a Field Day. This and much more is explained and documented in detail. Hopefully, each and every primary school forming part of the Gozo College would be able to carry out its own Field Day and make it an important, awaited and fixed event in its school calendar. In such a way, all our pupils could reap the many benefits which physical activity can have.
