Abstract: As the child grows he is passing through a process of development. The development of the child is gradual and is both physical and mental. Nowadays most children attend pre-schools, therefore from this young tender age children are spending a large part of their day at school. When arriving home many are deprived of movement as computers and television have taken over much of their leisure time. Integrating physical education and movement with the academic subjects is therefore seen to be very beneficial to our children. Children not only learn to relate outdoor activities to. classroom activities, but develop motor skills and mental skills in harmony while being encouraged to make good use of leisure time and maintain movement and eventually sports for life. I have practised a number of lessons, which were related to integrating physical education and movement with academic subjects and shared them with my colleagues. We have identified the values and felt the joy of movement and learning.
