Abstract: Physical fitness is a combination of good health and physical development. The objective of any Armed Forces of Malta soldier's program in physical fitness is to maximize health, strength, endurance, skill and emotion. All of these attribute to the total military fitness which must be combined in a well trained soldier. If any are lacking, the soldier's combat effectiveness suffers proportionately. The aim of this study was to promote initiative in assuring that soldiers serving in the Armed Forces of Malta are well trained in having the sufficient strength for the heaviest tasks which may be encountered in routine and emergency activities. The study highlights that though soldiers may look like athletes since both use agility, muscular fitness, aerobic fitness and flexibility in their sport I work; soldiers are not athletes and must train differently to acquire a robust, harsh physical stamina that makes soldiers ready to act in a very short time. From the four interviews and fifty five questionnaires delivered to three different units it transpired that different training regimes I standards together with incentives and motivation are the cram that can mitigate physical fitness in the Armed Forces of Malta.
