| Abstract: | The Australian government’s Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA) and the Administrative Appeals Tribunal narrowly interpreted the Australian Citizenship Act when former Maltese Australians, who had returned to Malta after living in Australia, submitted an application to get their Australian citizenship back. This narrow interpretation narrowed the chance of a university education for the applicants beyond the shores of Malta and its only university. |
