Abstract: The aim of this study is to outline the workers' perception of potential chemical hazards used in a printing department of a manufacturing industry in Malta, with a view to identify any possible need for improvement and if necessary update health and safety issues in the light of the existent legislative and regulatory framework. The research will: • Establish if the employees have enough information about the chemicals that they are exposed to. • Verify if there is good communication structure between the management and the employees regarding health & safety, and to assess its efficiency. • Investigate if the training the employees are given is targeting health and safety especially where chemicals are involved. • Look into the work practices of the employees in the printing department. • Study the perception of the employees on the importance of use of personal protective equipment. • Finally make recommendations for improvement in this workplace.
