Abstract: This research has examined the ergonomic conditions of teller workstations in a local bank. After branches' refurbishments tellers were experiencing some degree of musculoskeletal discomfort. The counters and tellers workstations were the cause of these discomforts. A critical evaluation was conducted from a follow-up survey based on the original survey/questionnaire responses. It was possible to: • Determine whether the various pains (in the neck, shoulders, elbow/forearms, wrists and fingers, lower back, legs and feet) have ceased. • Effect workstation analysis: space arrangements, work surface access, noise levels, lighting, seating, counter features, screen position, keyboard and mouse, and processes. This concluded that a high percentage of the present counters and teller workstations have very adequate ergonomic features. There is a strong individual knowledge regarding postural health care. This thanks to the bank's intensive educative campaign. There was a degree of physical discomfort experience, due to the hours being spent in this repetitive work. It was found to increase according to the age of the teller. This study concludes that: • The redesigned model improved significantly the ergonomic aspect of teller counter. • Tellers' health was safeguarded and as per Occupational Health and Safety Authority Act XXVII of2000 ' ... adapt the work to the worker, particularly in so far as the design of the work places, the choice of working equipment ... and to reducing their effect on health' • Various lessons were learnt: challenge when in doubt, educate and create awareness win the hearts and minds - on an ongoing basis solutions are not necessary rocket science.
